The Ultimate Fall Weekend in the Rogue Valley
The Ultimate Fall Weekend in the Rogue Valley
There’s something special about fall in the Rogue Valley.
The mornings get a little cooler, the leaves begin to change, local farms are in their element, and suddenly a weekend at home feels like a pretty great getaway. You don't have to drive hours away or plan an elaborate vacation to enjoy the season, you just need a few good local stops and a free weekend.
So we put together the ultimate fall weekend in the Rogue Valley, with a little bit of everything: cozy food, local shopping, apple picking, farm fun, outdoor adventures, and plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy where we live.
Here’s how we’d spend the perfect fall weekend in the Rogue Valley.
🍂 Friday: Get Cozy & Shop Local
Start with a Soup Flight at The Beatrice
Kick off the weekend with something warm and cozy at The Beatrice in downtown Medford.
Their soup flight is a fun way to sample several soups in one sitting, making it an especially fitting stop as the temperatures start to drop. Grab a seat, try a few different flavors, and let that first taste of fall officially begin.
It’s the kind of Friday night that doesn’t require a big plan - just good food and good company.
Spend the Afternoon Exploring Downtown Medford
Since you’re already downtown, make an afternoon of it and explore some of Medford’s locally owned shops.
Bumble & Wren is a great stop for thoughtfully curated home goods, plants, gifts, and other finds that make it easy to leave with something you didn't know you needed.
Then head over to Em'z Blendz, a longtime Southern Oregon company known for its handcrafted soaps and body care products. The Medford location doubles as a retail store and production studio, so you can actually see products being made while you shop.
Shopping locally is one of our favorite ways to spend a fall afternoon, and it’s an easy reminder of how many small businesses make the Rogue Valley feel like home.
🍎 Saturday: Classic Fall in the Rogue Valley
Saturday is for getting outside, getting a little messy, and embracing all the things that make fall feel like fall.
Start the Morning Apple Picking at Leonard Orchard
Grab a basket and head to Leonard Orchard in Medford for some old fashioned apple picking.
Located just minutes from central Medford, Leonard Orchard gives you the chance to pick your own apples and bring home a little taste of the season. It's a particularly fun outing for families, but honestly, you don't need kids to appreciate the simple joy of wandering through an apple orchard on a crisp fall morning.
And the best part? You get to take your harvest home.
Think apple crisp, homemade applesauce, apple butter, or just eating them straight from the bag.
Spend the Afternoon at Pheasant Fields Farm
Once you've had your fill of apples, keep the fall fun going at Pheasant Fields Farm.
The Medford farm has been a Rogue Valley tradition for more than 20 years, with seasonal activities designed to bring families and friends together. Their fall offerings have included favorites like the pumpkin patch, corn maze, farm rides, hayrides, and other seasonal attractions.
Depending on when you visit, you may also be able to catch one of their special fall events.
Pro tip: Check the farm's schedule before you go. Fall activities and event dates can vary throughout the season.
After a morning at the orchard and an afternoon on the farm, you'll probably be ready for a quiet night at home - and that's perfectly okay. Sometimes the best part of a fall weekend is having a reason to head home tired and happy.
🌿 Sunday: Explore & Unwind
Sunday is where we slow things down.
Instead of trying to squeeze every possible activity into the last day of the weekend, we're starting with some movement, heading into the woods, and letting the rest of the day unfold naturally.
Start with Farm Yoga at Dunbar Farms
Ease into Sunday with farm yoga at Dunbar Farms.
There’s something about practicing yoga surrounded by open farmland and the Rogue Valley landscape that feels like the perfect way to reset after a busy week. It's a chance to slow down, get some movement in, and enjoy the quieter side of the valley.
Be sure to check Dunbar Farms' current event schedule for upcoming Sunday yoga sessions and availability before planning your visit.
Get Outside at Pearsony Falls
After yoga, head toward Prospect for a hike to Pearsony Falls.
The short, forested trail leads through the woods to a beautiful waterfall, making it a great way to spend some time outside without committing your entire Sunday to a strenuous hike.
Take your time. Enjoy the trees, listen to the water, and breathe in that crisp fall air.
Because sometimes the best way to end a weekend is simply to get outside and remember how lucky we are to have places like this within reach.
